Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering

In order to train students to be engineers with deeper specialist knowledge and broader view of things, we established the Faculty of Advanced Engineering in 2000, where students can continue to study for two more years based on their five-year practical education. In 2015, with the aim of meeting the demands of industry and the local community, the two courses of FAE were reorganized into the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering with the subdivision of three courses. In the department we intend to train students to be engineers who can cope with recent developments in multidisciplinary technology. For this purpose, we will guide students’ researches so that they may acquire the ability to solve problems and become leading engineers of true humanity and creativity who can exert their full powers in international society.

Organization

The Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering consists of three courses: Electrical and Electronic System Engineering Course, Mechanical and Control System Engineering Course, and Civil Engineering and Architecture Course. Electrical and Electronic System Engineering Course focuses on electrical and electronic engineering with a view to merging with control and information systems. Mechanical and Control System Engineering Course centers on mechanical engineering with a view to merging with control and information systems as well as electrical and electronic systems. Civil Engineering and Architecture Course bases its education on the five-year study of civil engineering and architecture with a view to merging with architecture and civil engineering.

Electrical and Electronic System Engineering Course

Based on fundamental and specialist knowledge acquired either in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or in the Department of Control Engineering, or its equivalent, we carry out the latest, practical, and advanced technical education in electrical and electronic engineering, information and telecommunication engineering, and control engineering. By so doing, we aim to train students to be original engineers capable of research and development who will work in such fields as electrical and electronic materials as well as power, control, information and telecommunication systems, and contribute to the development of their local communities.

Mechanical and Control System Engineering Course

Based on fundamental and specialist knowledge acquired either in the Department of Mechanical Engineering or in the Department of Control Engineering, or its equivalent, we carry out the latest, practical, and advanced technical education in advanced materials, hydraulic engineering, thermal engineering, control engineering, and mechatronics. By so doing, we aim to train students to be original engineers capable of research and development who will work in such fields as mechanical system and control system, and contribute to the development of their local communities.

Civil Engineering and Architecture Course

Based on fundamental and specialist knowledge acquired in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture or its equivalent, we carry out the latest, practical, and advanced technical education in structure and aseismatic technology, construction materials, geotechnics, environmental hydraulics, disaster prevention, urban design, architectural design, architectural environment, building construction plans, and so on. By so doing, we aim to train students to be civil and architectural engineers full of originality and capable of research and development so that they can work in such fields as the design, construction, and maintenance of safe infrastructure and buildings which are considerate of environment and energy and can prevent disaster.
