10月17日（火）、英語デーがありました。3年生以上はTOEICを受験、1年生と2年生は希望者がTOEIC Bridgeを受験しました。初めてのTOEIC Bridgeで緊張しましたが、これまでの英検や定期テストの経験を活かして落ち着いて問題を解くことができたのでよかったです。いっしょに受験したクラスメイトの感想はさまざまでした。

「意外と難しかった。」
「集中力が保てなくて苦戦した。」

来年の英語デーが今から待ち遠しいです。でも、来年まで待てないので、寮生活を題材に自分で問題を作ってみました。TOEICとは一味違う問題になっていると思います。

 

これからReadingのテストを始めます。次の対話を読んで問いに答えなさい。TaroとManaはこの春から舞鶴高専にかよっています。

Taro: Hello, Mana. It's been half a year since we started school. How is your life in the dorm?

Mana: Taro, you are a commuter student. It’s hard to spend an hour and a half coming to school every weekday, isn’t it?

Taro: It's really hard. But I'm still worried about living away from my parents...

Mana: Well, let me tell you how things are going at Kakuyu Dormitory.

Taro: Wow sounds like fun.

Mana: The morning begins with the school song. I hear it every morning, so I've already learned the words by memory. After that, I have a morning roll call taken, get ready for school, have breakfast in the cafeteria, and then go to class. Fortunately, it only takes about 5 minutes to walk to the classroom, so I have time on hands to get ready in the morning. In case of need, I can go back to my room to pick up things I leave behind and take a nap during the lunch hour.

Taro: That’s a privilege of dorm students.

Mana: That’s exactly it. After club activities, I eat dinner, take a bath, and have a night roll call at 8:50 pm. Then we all clean up the communal space. And the lights are turned off at 11:00 pm.

Taro: You keep regular hours. That’s why you look so cheerful.

Mana: I can hang out with my friends anytime, and moreover I often work together with them on difficult problems and challenges.

Taro: Ah, that’s so fascinating that I want to live in the dormitory. Thank you for telling me a lot.
